Lindfield railway station, Sydney

Lindfield railway station is part of the Sydney Trains network, located on the North Shore line in the suburb of Lindfield. The station has a separate terminating platform.HistoryThe station opened in 1890.In 2009 the overhead concourse was upgraded and lifts were installed, giving the station Easy access.Between May 2006 and October 2009, the terminating facilities at Lindfield station were regularly used due to redevelopment works at North Sydney station. Two Northern line trains per hour that had previously terminated at North Sydney were extended to Lindfield.Platforms and servicesAs of 2012, with the opening of the Epping to Chatswood railway line, the terminating platform (platform 2), is only used for one service on a weekday morning, that "cleans the rails". This service, at the end of the morning peak, from Schofields, terminates at 9:02am and returns to Penrith departing at 9:38am. Also during trackwork between Hornsby and Gordon, a train may be stabled here so it can travel empty to Chatswood and operate via the Northern Line or North Shore & Western. Trains also terminate here in major service interruptions.As of the new Sydney Trains timetables on Sunday the 20th of October 2013: on weekdays the station is served by four trains per hour in each direction for most of the day, with additional trains provided during peak hours; and on weekends the station is served by four trains per hour in each direction for most of the day.
